6 Alternative Whistler Activities
Whistler is well known for being a mecca for snow sports, mountain biking and hiking, but there’s more to Whistler than just adrenaline sports. If you want to get creative or solve some puzzles while you’re here then Whistler has you covered!
Art Classes
Whistlerites are a very active bunch, but did you know that Whistler is an incredibly creative and artistic town too? Arts Whistler has been bringing great art to the public here for over 35 years now. They run figure drawing classes twice a week throughout the year. The classes are for all ability levels and you can buy a drop-in pass or a multi-pass.

If you’d rather paint, then Whistler has you covered too. Local artist, Andrea Mueller, runs a fun paint night once a month where you can get expert advice and enjoy a drink at the same time. All art supplies are provided and you’ll leave with a beautiful new painting for your home.
Opus Athletics - Crossfit Whistler
Visiting Whistler doesn’t mean that you need to stop your training schedule. Opus Athletics in Function Junction is home to Crossfit Whistler. Not only does this gym have all the latest equipment, but they also run endurance classes, Olympic weightlifting programs and Crossfit programs. Drop-in sessions are available and the gym is open Monday - Friday from 5:30 am to 8 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm. If you’re lucky you might just be training next to some world-class athletes like Yoann Barelli.
Ghost Town Hike
Did you know that just outside Whistler lies a ghost town? Parkhurst was a small settlement that was built by people working in the logging industry in the 1920s. It was actively used right up until the 1960s. At its peak, it was used by 70 people and even had a school and a general store.

Parkhurst is located to the north of Whistler village on the edge of Green Lake. To get there you have to hike, which is a 5 km roundtrip. The hike is flat and one of the easier ones in the area. Dogs are allowed on the trails and it’s a great way to get some unique photos for your Instagram account!
Boardgames at Fitzsimmons Pub
Whistler’s apres scene is very popular, and rightly so! But if you’re in the mood for a quiet drink and chat with your friends then an afternoon of playing board games at the Fitzsimmons Pub might sound like an ideal activity.

‘The Fitz’ as it’s locally known, is Whistler’s coziest pub and has a wonderful menu of local craft beers. It’s very relaxing and more intimate than some of the more well-known bars in town. The menu is constantly changing to feature the latest and greatest craft beer. The Fitz is the perfect size for a small group to hang out together, so much so that it is available to rent out entirely for events.
