New Mountain Bike Trails Coming to Creekside Zone in 2018
There’s already tons of reasons people love Whistler Creekside but there’s about to be 15km more. Whistler Mountain Bike Park is expanding the Creekside Zone by adding 15 kilometres of new trails.
Opening in June 2018, trailing building has already started on the Creekside expansion. Three different crews have been brought in to help build and create sections of the new trails – Joyride Bike Parks, Gravity Logic, and Whistler Mountain Bike Park Trail Crew.
The expansion has been split between 3 of the world's best trail builders. This will let different areas be unique and offer a variety of styles giving riders a new experience on each trail. The 5 trails are designed to appeal to the diversity of riding styles and skill levels of mountain bikers on Whistler Blackcomb. Once finished lift accessible riding will increase by 20% at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
And this is just the beginning of the Creekside Zone expansion master plan. The long-term plan includes 56 km of new trails that will reach from the valley floor to the tree line. Some highlights of the plan are more options to get in and out of the existing park and being able to cross over to the Creekside zone from the top of the Peak Chair and Whistler Village Gondola. The 15 km of new trails opening in 2018 will start off the extensive expansion plan.
The new trails may not be open yet but riders can still access the Whistler Mountain Bike Park from the Creekside Gondola. And on July 22nd the stunning Top of the World Trail is set to open and gives riders another point to access the Creekside Zone. Take advantage of great food at Dusty’s Bar & BBQ, bike repair at Garbanzo Bike & Bean, free underground parking, and fewer chairlift lines!
