WSSF Skiing and Snowboarding Competitions

Whistler Mountain closes for the winter season on April 17th, and Blackcomb Mountain is scheduled to stay open until May 30th. So the good news is that Whistler and Blackcomb will both be operating for the duration at the 2016 World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

As in the name indicates the World Ski and Snowboard Festival holds some of the best skiing and snowboarding competitions of the year. As well as group camps and classes for participants to practice and perfect their on-mountain skills.

Friday, April 8th

The IFSA North American Junior Freeride Champions – Competitors aged 12-18 who have performed well in many of the seasons regional and national competitions are invited to competed in the IFSA North American Junior Freeride Champions. They have to shred big mountain terrain while being judged on style, control, technique, fluidity and line choice.

Saturday, April 9th

The IFSA North American Junior Freeride Champions – Day 2

Demo Park – Test out the latest skis and snowboards for free during the demo park on Whistler Mountain.

Park 101 – With a maximum of 4 people in your class, learn the basics of Park riding for only $25. Learn to ride jumps and terrain park features from Whistler Blackcomb's experienced coaches.

Never Ever Days – Learn to ski or ride for only $25. Included is a full day, Level 1 MAX 4 Beginner lesson and a learning area lift ticket with rentals.

Halfpipe Fam Jam – 11am – 3pm – Head out to the Blackcomb Halfpipe, hang out with like-minded people, for a fun spring pipe session.

Fire and Ice Baby – Enjoy an electric mix of music, dance and spinning fire, with world-class athletes flipping and twisting through a burning ring of fire and a first class fireworks display to end the night.

Monster Boarder-Style - Four riders at a time will go head-to-head in a boarder-cross style race with big slope-style terrain features. Today is the Boarder-style qualifiers.

Gibbons Style Session – The exact details of the Gibbons Style Session have yet to be released. All we know so far is that there will be dancing and an awe-inspiring athletic component.
