Crankworx 2015 is upon us! The largest freeride mountain bike festival in North America is taking place August 7th - 16th. To help you prepare your friends at Evolution have put together a list of our top 5 must do’s at this year's festival.
Considering Crankworx has 60+ events planned throughout the 10 days, narrowing them down to just 5 is no easy task. Kicking things off at number 5 is:
#5 – Cruising the Village Stroll
August 7 – 16 | Whistler Village
During these 10 days, the atmosphere in Whistler Village is like no other time of year. Take a stroll and take in all the action. As you’re cruising there will be samples of things such as beef jerky, sunglasses and much more coming from all directions.
#4 – Attending the Dirt Diaries
Tuesday, August 11 | Whistler Olympic Plaza | 8:00 - 10:00 PM | FREE
The Dirt Diaries includes 6 teams of up to six people, including film crew, editors, and athletes, and they have two months to film, shoot and edit a five-minute video that tells their own unique story. The video will then be screened in front of a massive audience in Whistler Olympic Plaza. With the shots they get, the lines they ride and their finished product, this is a chance for mountain bikers and videographers to distinguish themselves within the industry. Judging is based on storyline, videography, riding and editing.
#3 - Taking part in the Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival
Saturday, August 15 | Base 2 Blackcomb Mountain | 12 PM - 4 PM | FREE
For cheese rolling, you need a steep hill, a wheel of cheese and a bunch of people willing to race down after it. You can watch or take part… as bodies cartwheel, tumble and downright roll down the hill chasing the cheese! The first person to reach the glorious cheese is crowned the winner.
There will be a Cheese Rolling event for both men and women, with the winner of each not only living in cheese folklore for years to come but also winning a Whistler Blackcomb season pass and the beloved cheese wheel they caught.
