Enjoying the Calmness of Alpha Lake

Wondering what to do today? Yeah, we understand: There’s nothing to do here (right.) But sometimes when you have all the choice in the world, it’s hard to choose. And then there are those pesky friends who aren’t helping, either. Everyone seems to have an idea, don’t they?

Well, we’re here to help you narrow it down. Today’s choice (weather permitting) is between a picnic on the banks of the River of Golden Dreams or yoga on the beach. Obviously, if you don’t do yoga, you’re going to just settle for the picnic, okay? But everyone eats, so that’s an easy decision to make.

Picnic Fare

For the picnic, you can either make it yourself in your gorgeous modern kitchen (that is if you are staying with us) or grab some take-out. Both options have their benefits. The make-it-yourself option can be delightful if you enjoy cooking and preparing food, but if you don’t, Creekside has some of the best take-out options this side of the Rockies.

Groceries Delivered to Your Door

For many (if not most) people, the hassle of cooking really starts in the shopping. But in Creekside, you’re lucky. You can order your groceries online and then sit back and have them delivered. This is not a last minute thing, so you would have had to prepare in advance for this. On the other hand, we do think it’s an option for you to walk across the lane and enter the store. The small, local ambiance of Creekside Market just screams picnic to us, too, so there’s that.

Here is a link to some awesome curated picnics over on Pinterest, by the way.

Take-Out Option

Here, you’ve got lots of choices. So, yeah, start figuring out how to decide now: Will it be “ro sham bo” or pick a number between 1 and 100? Because really, all these are great. And if you sit there and try to figure out whether you’re in the mood for sushi or pizza, you’ll never get out the door.

Samurai Sushi — Voted Best in Whistler for many years in a row, this shop does take out. Sushi picnic? Yes.

Avalanche Pizza — Best traditional pizza in Whistler, they're open from 11:00 to 11:00 and they deliver. You can even order online.

Southside Diner — The local hangout. Great pub style food. Poutine, hamburgers and fries. You get the idea.
